NCC’s Second Backlot Bash Concert Promises to be a Rockin Good Time Featuring Wally and the Beavs

NAPOLEON, OHIO – Come out and support the Napoleon Civic Center and their 2nd concert in the 2017 Backlot Bash Summer Concert Series outdoors in the back parking lot of the Napoleon Civic Center. We promise this night will be full of music, tasty food, beer, and community!

Our second band this season is a crowd favorite, Wally and the Beavs.

This band performs a variety of popular Motown and classic rock music, including cover songs by Steely Dan, The Beatles, Chicago and other respected artists.

So it’s like this (in a nut shell)… A guy named Smirth from The Other Half (a semi-famous comedy/rock act) comes home from L.A. on December 8th, 1989 to be present at the birth of his first child, a son born on January 1st, 1990. Smirth stays in Ohio to be a dad with a half-hearted promise to return to California if The Other Half gets any big deals shakin’. The call never comes, word gets out that Smirth is singing locally and a regular patron at a small rock bar in Napoleon, Ohio insists that Smirth and “his band” play at his Halloween/Birthday party. The food and beer are free so Smirth agrees and he begins looking for a band.

While the band has had some rocky years, they continue the tradition of “good time rock and roll.”

About the Napoleon Civic Center Project.

In January 2016, the Napoleon Area School District opened their new elementary school. This has resulted in the closure and schedule for demolition of three elementary schools, a junior high school, and a 700 seat auditorium. The process of creating the Napoleon Civic Center Foundation was started in 2012, out of a grassroots desire to save the auditorium and part of the elementary section from the wrecking ball and create a civic center for use by the residents of Napoleon and greater Henry County, Ohio. The Napoleon Civic Center Foundation received confirmation of their 501 (c) (3) tax exemption status on December 5, 2013. The Civic Center will be the home to an arts partnership of five not for profit arts organizations including the Henry County Arts Council, Maumee Valley Civic Theater and Children’s Theater, Napoleon Community Band, Henry County Chorale, and the Henry County Historical Society. The foundation will be marketing the use of two gymnasiums, a 700 seat auditorium with a full stage plus apron and dressing room capacity. In addition, there will be space for a wellness organization and the capability to turn one gymnasium into a banquet hall with a catering room near it. Currently, the Napoleon Civic Center is raising funds for the remodeling of this wonderful building.
